Brilliant!

Just wanted to make sure that everyone is aware that Seinfeld wrote and will star in the Dreamworks film Bee Movie in '07. It's about a bee graduating from college and suing humans for taking all of the honey. I'm laughing as I write this.

Bible Study

I'd enjoy meeting up in L.A., as I may have to meet my parents up in that neck of the woods to exchange cars, as I need the van for camping. Anyhow, rumor has it Darren and Trev and Matt have furniture these days and it might be nice to try it out. Any thoughts?

A Strange World

So yesterday I went to the airport to fly home to Washington for a few days. As many of you know, my dad is a pilot for Alaska and I currently fly for free to any destination that they serve. The downside is that I fly standby. The instantiated downside is that to flights were cancelled yesterday from LA to SEA, leaving crowds for the remaining flights. I gazed across the terminal and saw a flight to D.C. and noticed that they were in final boarding. After checking in with the gate agent, I boarded the flight. While waiting on the jetway I called my mom and let her know that I was not coming home and that I was going to D.C. instead. She told me that my dad had a layover that night in DC and gave me his hotel information. My dad and I hung out last night in DC and I cruised back to Seattle with him on his flight this morning.

Another note, I've been invited to serve with the Peace Corps in Uzbekistan, one of the strongest dictatorships in the former Soviet Union. If I take it I leave August 16.

Cheers. See you all in a few days.

Why is the new Pope awesome?

Quite nice

Went to the Bayou last night for a brief moment and was pleasantly surprised to find my friends Drew and Andy there. How nice to have brief yet enjoyable moments unexpectedly with those admired but rarely seen. Pleasure was indeed mine.

the virtual porch

well, my time in argentina has come to an end... after many laughs, smiles, drinks, and yes a few kisses, I must leave this land for my own. Its been short, but so good. This is a land of opprotunity, and despite the massive economic crisis and the government that is riddled with corruption, these people seem to be above that. They have such passion and love. I will miss all the people and this country. and so for the last time I send my love from Argentina and look forward to sharing a few laughs and perhaps a few drinks with all of you very soon,

Katy Reel

To those who know her or even to those who don't... Katy Reel, a good friend of mine from the Biola days, has been struck with some rough news, and could use some prayer. She went in for a check-up because of headaches and numbness in her arms, and they found a tumor in the brain. She's started treatment, both radiation and chemotherapy. I'm a rare case folks. It's unbeleivable to think how easy I had it. I will hope and pray that in the end she has similar results, but this can be rough stuff, so please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. If you would like more information, check out her blog.

friday fun

so a couple things from me this morning.

1.)i received my copies of van morrison's 'astral weeks' and the pogues 'rum sodomy and the lash' on vinyl today from my mailman. he thought it was cool that i listen to records.

2.)i finally got the paypal thing set up on my site.{thanks to the billionaire} if you were thinking about purchasing some of my art from my senior show, this is the thing just for you. the work i am making isn't going to be small enough to take home with you, so here's your chance to show that you care in a special way. the buttons for paypal will be up on my site until my show is done, so if you get the itch at some point in the next month or two, i would really appreciate your appreciation!

3.) im going to invite another new addition to the porch later on today, once i hear back from him. he's a good friend to you, me, children and small animals. he writes about getting hit by cars while riding his bike, throwing rocks and flipping off women. the kansas kid we all know and love, grant redwine. you can check out his new blogger site here, since he quit that janky xanga crap.

in response to keith's post in response to andy's post and comments

i've always dreamed of becoming an astronaut and also finding space junk and then trying to sell it on EBay. Then I learned that space junk isn't really worth that much money, so the hell with becoming an astronaut. I don't want my job title to begin with ass. Might as well call me Ass clown, or asswipe (a great 80s cut down which should make it way back into our vocabulary). Can I get an AMEN?

Let the Quest Begin.

Here!

In response to Andy's post & comments

I'm tired of U2, not the band, not the music, just simply the subject. Is it because they're just so easy? They're easy to Love, they're easy to hate. Why must it Always be so passionate? (I for one, am guilty of one of these uncalled for passions.) Dare I say it... they are just another band. Good song...bad songs. Can we move on? There are plenty of interesting things happening in music today. Must we always come back to the same thing? I think my hope when I started this post was to have the last word. I'm sure that won't be the case. Some fanatic will feel obligated to dispprove my attempts to disparage the almighty. I give up....for now. Can I get an AMEN?

Da Bomb

So, another day another list....this one I can get behind 100%...ladies and gentlemen, the 11 worst songs of 2004!

have a good one

google maps

I highly recomend checking out google maps if you already haven't. especially the feature to where you can view everything in a sattelite images...hours can be wasted trying to find the different points of interest and you don't have to refresh the page, it's a click and drag type of map. yesterday i found the half way house, the old whittier apartment 17 at the olympian, biola, the hollywood sign, the bayou, my current residence...just tons of fun and i thought i would share that experience with all of you. just go to google search and type in any address and there you go...

Kissing, Love, Marriage, Baby

Sometimes not in that particular order or perhaps even devoid of one or two of those components. I decided to write about this topic for two reasons. 1)it seems alot of you are getting married and 2)my wife Chrystel and I are having a baby extremely soon.
We both want her to be here because it seems Chrystel has been pregnant for the past 2 years, I mean it is Kate Hudson-esque. It will also be nice to be able to speak to Autumn when she is not covered by Chrystel's belly. Instead of feeling Chrystel's stomach and saying, "Oh yeah you are right that does feel like a hand." (I never know what it is I am feeling, I just know that its the baby) we can both look at her and feel her tiny fingers and toes and know that yes those are her fingers and toes. I have always liked baby fingers and toes...i really have always liked baby shoes too...they look like little biscuits.
My dad keeps asking me if I am ready to be a dad and I say yes. I hope that I am. I guess this is one of those fears that men face. The whole marriage thing is a big one, but a great one if with the right person. The baby step is extremely similiar. Just as you guys have decided to spend the rest of your lives with the person you are marrying, a baby commits both of you to care and love for this little person. I dont know, I should probably get back to work. I read this and it isn't that great of a post, but hell, it is my first. Thanks again for the invite Jesse. My next post will consist of what else is going on with Chrystel and I. The baby is about all I can think about right now however.

here's a couple of things you need to see. first you will watch this video {quicktime}. you will not watch this video at work, unless they are down with southparkesque language.

after you have watched the first video, you will watch the original version {safe for work}. i do not know which version is scarier, but undoubtedly, you will have a better understanding of what a true american is.

Change of Location for this Saturday....

to all the pimps, thugs, and boozers coming out this saturday... the address for the 7 pm sorie has been changed. due to unknowable and unchangeable cicumstances, the location for our engagement party has been moved from los feliz to west hollywood area...please take into account the new address:

345 N. Citrus
Los Angeles, CA 90036
Sink map link below.

i will follow up with a call to make sure that you guys got this information, as any good finace would do. to those who were hanging in Santa Monica on saturday..sorry we couldnt meet up. when you go to dinner with 11 people to a mexican restauarant in venice and pitchers of margeritas are consumed, things tend to drag themselves out and a dinner of 1-2 hours, turns into 3...but friday at the cabo was a good time for all involved and then the move to O'briens where i had french fries thrown at me, but luckily Willy has my back and tossed to SOB outta there. But I know Mike also had my back and it would have been one heck-of-a food fight had it come to it. So to recap---new addres for party, missed haning on sat, and french fired hurling through the air. ps: drew, how the heck are you?

Warm Beer, Lousy Food

Though reportedly pub-goers have been developing more sophisticated palates as of late, traditional English fare is legendarily bad. Famously, the Brits harbor a bitter grudge against good, frosty beer and food containing less than its weight in lard. Stateside pubs however tend to serve up pub grub with an American twist. Meaning pub food here is generally viewed as a delicacy, as opposed to merely a necessity.

Not so at Brit’s, a truly authentic pub located just across the street from my house in Pasadena. The beer at Brit’s is warm, though cheap. They don’t serve Guinness, though they will recommend Beamish, which “tastes similar.” (It doesn’t.) The chips are greasy to the point of intimidation, the curry might well be more honestly advertised as “curry flavored butter,” and they only recently installed taps. In short, if you are looking for a “real” pub, Brit’s is the place for you.

Tonight (Monday) is “Britpop” night at Brit’s. I have never attended Britpop night, but the other night a friendly employee encouraged me to attend, promising the likes of, and I quote, “Sabbath, Radiohead, Zeppelin, South, and Blur.” Though not all of the aforementioned musical groups qualify as “Britpop” necessarily, they were/are all British, and their music was at one point/still is popular. Close enough.

My good friend Peter Owen and I will be relaxing at Brit’s tonight after we see Sin City at 7:20. Anyone who would like to join us for either leg of the evening’s festivities (movie or drinks) is certainly welcome to attend. Email me or call for further details…

For those not of the emailing/calling disposition, Brit’s is located on Colorado Boulevard between Allen Avenue and Meredith Drive. Take the 605 N, 210 W, exit Allen, take a left, then right on Colorado.

Cheers!

Uh-Oh

In the immortal words of steve urkel (a.k.a stephan urkêl) "Did I do that?"

p.s. on a different note. to all you video-gamers out there (you know who you are). don't worry. you could be a hell of a lot worse.

mods and rockers do it in the garage

so here's a little somethin somethin for all our little music friends, the foe records kids, and for me when i drop my first sweet solo album on your asses.

pic

check out the iControl. it's a sweet usb powered control setup for garageband. no more fidling with the mouse for most things. gives you dedicated controls for all 8 tracks etc etc. check it out here. best part about this thing, aside from what it does, is the price. $179. so cheap, it's almost like you bought it at a garage sale!

i got in an argument

how can you defend any band for its merit when there name is not led zepplin, the rolling stones or the sex pistols. why is music like this. if it's not those bands it's not good. it's not like that with books. it's not like that with paintings. and it was basically in our lifetimes.

i don't like the name iron and wine. what's that supposed to mean. guns and roses!!!! that's a name for a band.

Phone Company Question

Okay. I'm really poor and saving money to live on when I get married. Henceforth, Robyn and myself are over our minutes on our phone plan and cannot talk to anyone who does not have cingular until after 9 or on the weekends.

Thus, I am wondering who has cingular?

vacation

hey all

the weather is good. the entire city has come out of a slumber and rittenhouse square is full of cheerful people. there is an energy again and the winter blues have melted away. birds chirping, flowers blooming, sun shining thank God for spring and u2 (sidenote). yesterday stephanie and i went for a couple beers at my local bar, chaucers, which has just put tables on the sidewalk. it was lovely. then we continued to drink beers and smoke cigarettes on the steps outside my front door for the next few hours. it was like a little vacation and i remember fondly sitting on various porches in the los angeles region with friends doing the same, though they weren't so good looking.

anybody gonna be in san fran at all at the end of the month. i'll probably be going there on weekend for work.

well, our sale season is in full swing and we've got americana opening this weekend. the philly antiques show is also on this weekend and we're doing some stuff with that. lots going on. things are good. saw my parents and they enjoyed philadelphia and it was good to see them.

take care

protein intake skyrockets

well my protein intake has absolutely skyrocketed... with prices ranging from 2 to 3 $ for 8 oz of pure luscious yumm, I have been unable to order anything but two or three steaks per meal. which in turn has my system in quite the quandry... I relieved myself for the first time in a few days just a few moments ago and my shat lapped the bowl several times. I had to take a few moments to stare in awe of what I had just accomplished. well, aside from that things are going quite well. My father and I just spent some time in the Southern Patagonia hiking and hiking. something like 25 rigurous miles in two days. It was a special time with dad. We parted ways this morning, he headed to the States, and I find myself in a remote town in Chile. The plan is to spend two days camping in the Mountains in southern Chile and then head back to Buenos Aires and meet up with some friends that I met. The friends are great. they all get together and drink and then go to clubs. while they are all great and quite nice I have grown a bit fond of this one argintinian lady, quite a sweetheart. we´ve shared some moments together.... kinda nice.
well thats it for now, remembering all of you...

emma had her kittens today
there are four of them. an orange tabby, a white one, a calico and a black one. im pretty sure the little black one isn't going to make it though. he couldn't figure out how to nurse and he's really small. his heart is still beating at last check but he hasn't moved in like an hour. sad note in an otherwise cool thing. she had them at about 7:45 this morning.
