My troubled cousin, who's had a few run ins with the law, just got busted bringing 350 kilos of weed across the border. He's got a great heart, but is really a clueless sob. He's a couple years younger than me and was already on parole, so he'll probably be going to jail for a while. It really makes me sick to my stomach. He'll need a lot of prayer.

another prayer request

last night/this morning amanda's grandma had what we are guessing is a stroke. she is in the hospital right now, and they are running some tests. we're waiting back for the results of an MRI right now to figure out what actually happened. the people at the first hospital weren't very good at doing their jobs. at one point the doctor came into the room and actually had to ask amanda's dad if a CT scan had been done already. he said "how am I supposed to know, aren't you the doctor?". they have since moved her to a different hospital.

please be praying for her grandma, and the rest of amanda's family as we try to figure out what is going on. her grandma isn't making a lot of sense right now, but she is still able to recognize people and make sense some of the time. depending on what happens, amanda and i might have to head up to bakersfield and be with the family.

on a side note, tomorrow (tuesday) is amanda and I's first anniversary. it's also jen and jayson's anniversary as well. yay!!! hopefully we will be able to enjoy it. thanks for the prayers everybody.

Whiskey and cigarettes

empty bottles around me... lots of them, yet none drank tonight. tonight its whiskey and some root beer.
disorder, drawers open and empty. Clothes strewn on the one piece of furniture I own, the trusty camping chair that just a few months ago sat many of the greats in big sur, or looked over the ocean in mexico... new place is cool, big window to the roof, i sit and think and smoke on the roof. Albeit alone, but still nice... candlelight, so nice... Quiet light... fire = fun... not fun is skipping mp3s on my ipod... which makes me curse, deep down dirty curse words. my new ladyfriend is in love... but with another. the whiskey kinda hurts going down... and its the other she can't have, funny how life works. music rings in my head... radio head, patty griffith, my morning jacket... still no job... were looking at 5 weeks... im really poor right now. and that sucks.... plus its boring, masturbation is losing its fun. and then what, whats next, can it really only be five minutes of pleasure, then what, back to fucking reality. Reality bites. But theres hope... there always is. its just a matter of perspective, don't you know? the prize is right around the corner. im almost there. so close to that elusive 'there'. i can taste its goodness... Success, security, love, passion... and so i turn the corner, and hey guess what, that 'there' is nowhere to be found. gone. poof. you can put money on that fucking 'there' not the be there. never is. never was. just a figment of my imagination. couldn't have been that easy anyways. foolishness sucks. Value perspective, and wisdom. and so when the mind should focus on that which is productive it finds itself alone, drinking and occasionally going on the roof to smoke... and thinking of the one thing it shouldn't be... the ladyfriend who has no love for me. damn... aint life a bitch... and yet for some reason, tomorrow will bring its new promises and new hopes...
just needed to chat with some friends on a porch somewhere...

A wonderful time had this evening past with our dear Andy. Hats off to him, his preparation, his excitement and his passion for his new life, bride and adventure. And cheers to all of us that are approaching the anniversary mark. We kick some major fucking ass. Especially the sun bear.

goodbye to bachelorness

I haven't posted in a while, so before I pass out for the evening I thought a few ramblings could be good. This last week has been really weird, not in a bad way...i guess kind of unexplainable. It's the week before I get married and I find myself spacing out more than usual. It's such a monumentally huge life step that I feel I can't really contain it, so I wake up in a daze and go through my daily tasks with this knowledge that everything will be different a week from now- it's a hard thing to wrap my mind around, yet I'm so excited for everything, the known and undiscovered. It's been amazing to see relationships turn to marriages and continue to flourish. Thank you Drew and Amanda, Jayson and Jen, Matt and Lisa, Jesse and Robyn, Matt and Amanda, and Keith and Karen for your great example- I've learned a lot from you. I'm really looking forward to Saturday, there's really no formal plan for anything but I think that will make it pretty relaxing. I want everyone just to hang out and have fun. That's about it. The Dodgers got swept by the Rockies and I've lost all hope.

Again, I thank all of you who came up to the bachelor weekend, I had an incredible time.

Catalina Island Adventures

For anyone interested, Xio and I will be making our way to Catalina Island for the day on Saturday. If anyone wants to join, the Catalina Explorer out of Long Beach is the cheapest way and they still had spots on the boat. So their boat leaves at 9:15 and the return leaves Avalon at 5 pm.

There are other boats that go out there. The Catalina express out of Long Beach has more times of departure and returns, but that is filling up fast and is a bit more expensive.

So, we'll just be chillin at the beach out there if anyone cares to join, sipping on some Coronas and living the high life.
