Happy Holidays from Jarvis Pickle

Tis the Season... Crotchety Old Man Edition

As we are all flaming pinko limp wrist liberals, we don't like to leave anyone out. I feel that our elderly friend "Jesse" got left out in that last list experiment, as he doesn't listen to music made after 1879. Hell, I'm surprised he can work the damned compu-thingy!

Anyhow, so "Jesse" can participate, I propose a second, lesser list, which will be posted in conjunction with the original, better list. This new list will be called "the virtual porch best albums of 2006 that did not come out in 2006; so really, it's more like 'albums i listened to in 2006,' but you can't name any album that actually came out in 2006."

Crazy Horses!

Tis the Season...

Every year about this time the various tastemakers of our fair land release their annual "Best of" lists. I am a "Best of" list junkie. I love to see how my taste matches up with those of the various tastemakers. I love the building suspense as I move my way toward #1. I have a feeling I am not alone in this mania.

The proposition: let's compose "the virtual porch top ten albums of 2006." In the comments for this post, each participant will nominate ten albums he or she feels should make the list. Deadline for voting is Wednesday, December 13. Then I will tally up the votes and post our official list.

Happy Chawanzmas, bitches!

Subpar

After being laid off at work this past friday afternoon, I find myself jobless and returning to the world of substitute teaching. Hopefully this will only be a temporary fix. In other news, it's been fun playing baseball lately and it was good to see Dan and Billy last saturday night. Hope you're all doing well

I hate Scott Boras and now J.D. Drew

I just read that JD Drew opted out of the final 3 years of his contract with the Dodgers. Filthy money grubbing sash

This will not be Darren in five years, because that is a mean thing to say. However, it is quite hilarious. Dude goes to prayerstorming sessions and gives out faithcicles!

nothing quite like a november that feels like an august

people must be extremely busy, or lazy these days but I will ramble nonetheless... I'm back at work after a week of recording. I don't like being at work. I'd rather be recording. I find that my computer time has a void in it left where fantasy baseball and mlb news usually occupy. I must find new things to look at on the computer. I'm in the market for a new banjo, baseball glove, and possibly an aluminum bat. I plan on going to the batting cages more frequently. I recently got 3 albums: Marie Antoinette soundtrack- good. Badly Drawn Boy- mediocre. Phoenix- great. I'm reading a collection of short stories by Dave Eggers that's pretty good so far. Dana saw John Malkovich at the grocery store the other day and nearly collided into him with her cart. I got my oil changed yesterday and "they" said that I needed to get my radiator flushed for a hundred bucks. I said no. Well, that's about it. I hope you're all well and enjoying your day
