Pre-Rio-Burrito-Birthday!

Before you lose your shit to the Rio Bravo, come to my house to celebrate Jen's 26thness. It's going to be filled with awesomeness and barbecues drenched in beer + tequila + other stuff. Don't be afraid. It'll warm you up for the show later on. Then, once the show's over, you can come back as we will surely be continuing the festivities. You can reply or call us or just come over. Yeah! ALRIGHT!!

Lost

When we all went camping in Malibu a few months back (this was the trip with the creepy forest ranger making dinosaurs out of wire, for those of you who may have forgotten), I brought (and subsequently lost) my dad's fishing gear. He is very sad about this. Do any of you have any idea where it may have run off to? If any one has seen a blue backpack (jansport I think) with a fishing pole, reel, and various tackle in it, you will make a kind old man very happy. Thanks.

I think this guy has a leg up on a few people I know: "his breathalyzer test registered 18 times the legal alcohol limit."

sunday, late afternoon

well, all's well that ends well, the artkraft strauss collection was sold thursday for a total of around$100,000, half way between the low and high, highlights included $23000for the coke model, 8000 for the subway s, 7000 for the camel drawing and the biography i. i personally made my first auction purchase, a pair of geometric neons, one argon one neon, blue and red, small and simple. i need neon in my life. now i get calls of people everywhere who has signs. maybe we can do it again. i doubt it. fox news covered the sale. i stick to the best being tv tokyo. they had the best and most unique questions. this auction business is stressful. i knew that before, but it's different when the sale is yours. i personally hardly slept nor ate for a week, persisting purely on sandwiches, beer, wine, vermouth and whisky, coffee and antihistamines. i have alergies now that i live on the east coast. maybe its the ivy that surrounds my apartment walls and darkens my windows. life goes on, i went in yesterday and catalogued porcelain. decorative arts sale in july, catalogue due in two weeks. one of my biggest buyers, who say the article in the nytimes, just moved into richard avedon's apartment and studio. he bought the i, the frog, the train and something else which i can't remember (s?) it's starting to rain now. it was very windy today. bono is a newspaper editor. damien hirst did art on the cover of london's the independent. u2 is working with espn (one campaign) to promote the world cup. who would have thought? u2 has a song (b-side, vertigo australian import) called neon lights. life can spiral around on you sometimes.

now then, i recommend anyone with netflix get episodes of the old tv show called naked city. it stars actors when they were very young, martin sheen, robert duvall kind of thing, and has great exteriors of new york in the 50's. it's crime drama. i'm really enjoying them. cheers to that then

A Story

There once was a house that tried to compete with the halfway house. It wanted to be dirtier. It wanted to be more filled with beer cans and trash. It thought it could be more of an embarasment to its owners.

It succeded.

You know how some people, after they use something, just can't bear to throw it away. That might make sense if it's magazines or clothes. But what if it's empty beer cans? In astounding numbers?

What kind of numbers?

How about 70,000.

7 Zero Zero Zero Zero.

Apparently the previous renter of the recently evacuated Townhouse in Ogden, Utah drank 24 beers a day for 8 years, and kept every single can to prove it.

I'm impressed.

BRENTMANIA!!!

AP Photos by Matt Rourke
Brent Lewis gestures as he describes some of the neon items from the Artkraft Strauss collection at Freeman's Auction House. The Artkraft Strauss collection is scheduled to be auctioned off on Thursday. Artkraft Strauss created nearly all of Times Squares spectacular signs throughout the 20th century.

"There's no precedent for this sale. The market is untested," said Brent Lewis of Freeman's. "When the gavel falls, we're all interested to see what happens."

Brent Lewis, who is overseeing the sale for Freeman's, said he expected it to fetch at least $100,000, and possibly several times that.

neon madness

my neon sale is thursday and the shts blown up. philly inquirer did an article fri. and ny daily news did an article sun. the ap also did a article that went out that got picked up across the country and in europe and prompted the nytimes to do their own article on the front page of the metro section today. it's been on several radio stations, today is was filmed/interviewed for local abc tv news, tomorrow i have a radio interview in the morning and tokyotv in the afternoon. german tv and brazillian tv both want to come to the auction. i spoke to a producer from nightline today who wants to do a segment thursday. there's an abbreviated version of the ap article in today's latimes it's all happening. everybody loves times square. i recommend google artkraft strauss and punch news to see the coverage, it's really something...

a farewell to arms, or at least to me

hey guys and anybody else--- this saturday there's going to be a back yard bbq in honor of me. well me and some other's who are leaving town, them for good- me just for a few months while I'm up in Canada.

anyways, i'd love to see anyone who can make it out. we'll have two grills going so if you want something other than burgers or hot dogs, bring it on. As usual, there will be some drinks, but bringing some as well would be helpful. It's in the same place we had our stock the bar party at Xio's grandma's house. (which will now be our new residence as well.) We'll get it going around 6 PM and I think this new band called the Muffin-Top Hipsters will be playing, but don't quote me on that.

I sent out an evite, but probably missed some emails as usual.. put up a post on this thing if you wanna come. The address is:
2048 Fox Hills Dr.
Los Angeles, CA 90025.

later.

Ouch

Yesterday on the 170 south, I crashed. Thankfully nobody else was involved, just the guard rail.

For those of you with cable...

If you're bored or interested or neither and both, I'm on a talk show called Soap Talk today on the Soap Network. Might be worth a laugh. Nothing like being a huge sellout. Goes great with a big cup of coffee and an ice pick to your sinuses. The show's on at 6 and midnight.

Some Grave News...

I was told by a close friend, that if you choose to do something Thursday night other than see the Longshoes play at Hotel Cafe, you will suffer greatly. This friend told me that he would kill anyone who didn't go. I've given him permission to do so. Your blood will be on my hands and I will revel in it. The show starts at 10:00 and it will cost $5.
