how we see ourselves in others...
or how to understand and react to sarcasm/irony
i was doing my obligatory duties today {smoking, coffee, internet} and thinkging about the weird ways that people respond to things they see, mostly on the web or in print, that are sarcastic/ironic. removed from a context of direct human interaction, people really tend to flip out over obviously farsical statements, or puported agendas. i submit a couple of examples for your consideration.

Welcome to our website:
Black People Love Us!
We are well-liked by Black people so we're psyched (since lots of Black people don't like lots of White people)!! We thought it'd be cool to honor our exceptional status with a ROCKIN' domain name and a killer website!!
to really get at the heart of what i am talking about (people freaking out etc.) check out the section of letters that people have emailed to the site.
icy hot stuntaz!
then of course you have these guys. who hasn't seen em by now. but the main focus for our topic is the stuff people post about them. check it all out here in their "hataz" section
so to sum up, it's gotten me thinking about something that someone once said to me
crappy proverb and what it means in 3...2...1
the things that we dislike the most in others, are the parts of ourselves that we dilike the most as well.
so if you hate the white kids for trying to be black... maybe you hate yourself for trying to be black too.
please reply thoughtfully with your impressions
