what i know i think

read more steinbeck, listen to more country music and do more manual labor.

steinbeck- screw Hemingway, Steinbeck is King!
Country music- alot of crap but some gold...honest and truly unique to U.S.A.
manual labor- don't know if i could do it for a living but during the summer break from teaching it is nice to make some money and see things actually materialize in front of you. plus beer tastes better after working hard.
Beer:Thirty sure is welcome at the end of the day.

MISC: ever heard of the song Beer Run?
Let me Quote:
B double E double R U N Beer Run
B double E double R U N Beer Run
All you need is a Ten and a Fiver,
Keys and a Car and a sober Driver,
B double E double R U N Beer Run.

Chrystel now sings that to Autumn...

if you like...

...Steinbeck, check out James Agee.

...country music, ask yourself what you mean by that. if you mean "old country music," pat yourself on the back. if you mean "new country music," punch yourself in the balls.

...beer, check out Delirium Tremors. amanda and i have started drinking that. it's got 9.5% alcohol and a pink elephant on the label.

...beer, i am so with you on that. beer is so, so good. seriously. man i want beer right now.

and now, the disagreement. hemingway is much better than steinbeck.

(i just spent a good five minutes looking at that last statement, deliberating, not quite sure if i really believed it. i do, but i want you to know that that assurance came at a price. a heavy price.)

I will check him out...man i love the public library.

Country Music: I agree with you on this completely...i do have to admit to listening to current country stations...mainly because the baby likes it and i was tryin to immerse myself completely into the culture which is mariposa, CA.

Beer: that is a great idea for a beer...pink elephants...that is what you see with the dts.

Hemingway...I have to say i have never given him a fair shake...i wrote a paper in college about a hemingway story and i ripped on him and the woman prof (biola) that i sort of had a crush on said i was right...i should get past that...mainly because hemingway was well hemingway and also i ended up dating said prof and eventually broke up with her.

Oh read Cannery Row by Steinbeck...it incorporates beer, steinbeck, and manual labor or the advoidance therof for a few of the main characters...also doc ricketts tries a beer shake...he really likes beer. like a milk shake but ya use beer in it...

Did you date Andrea Frankwitz? It sure sounds like you did. She is a female English prof at Biola who doesn't like Hemmingway because he is malecentric. Come to think of it, it might have been Virginia Doland that you dated. In either case, nice work.

Can't say that I do. She may have been before my time.

Regarding the topic at-hand, haven't read Steinbeck, but Hemmingway has flashes of brilliance. Beer is good, good for children too. Listening to country music in my car is a guilty pleasure of mine (even new country music). Manual labor, is that a Mexican general or something. What the hell is that? Yeah, manual labor is good for the soul.

New topic: running. running is good for you and helps clear your mind. So does lifting weights.

Running...i always had a hard time with that even when i was in shape...Lifting Weights...i liked that...though it is best not to do it along...one time i was lifting weights by myself while watching Days of Our Lives...it was almost my last day. The bar came down on the chest and i sorted of freaked for a second but then was able to roll it off of me.

Croteau was HOT. Only teacher I ever had a crush on. I loved that she had such a chip on her shoulder.

i was sort of an asshole to her about the whole thing...the break up i mean...i became the jerk that i had always hated. I do have to say she treated me well and was a good girlfriend but she just wasnt the one for me. Plus it was wierd being so secretive about who i was dating. i sort of blame the whole thing on me being so young (22) and her being a 26 year old woman that didnt want to just screw around with a relationship.

I guess we know where that chip on her shoulder came from.
