WHO warns of deaths, maybe a billion

so we're in some deep shit here folks, bird shit to be exact. if the bird flu virus H5N1 begins to cross over to humans in more significant numbers, and then becomes contagious from person to person, we're all going to die. The International Herald Tribune has a really good round up in this article about what people think could happen. so far there is 70%+ death rate for anyone that becomes infected.
