the beauty of 19th century French Japonism

i'm at work now. i'm gonna have to start working a lot again as my next sale approaches at the end of the month and this frustrates me a little but i'll get over it.

i believe in the power of momentum in my own life, especially in the day to day things

the cabinet pictured here is a real flyer and a highlight of the sale. by gervais-maximilien-eugene-durand its one of the best examples we've ever seen and of the highest quality. done in the late 18th century louis XVI style circa 1890, it epotimizes a market that has grown extensively over the last few years and, interestingly enough, the 19th century pieces actually will outrun a period louis XVI piece at auction. the present work from an important new york estate is in with a conservative estimate of $10,000-15,000 but should realize quite a bit more come September 27.
