Tarantella

Let's Dance my brothers!

This Friday July First: the first of the month, the last of its kind.

The city has been good to us. The hill has been better. Let's prepare for the future by affirming our past.

Come to Whittier where we shall have the final tarantulla hill affirmation night. What to bring: yourselves, good spirits (both emotional and bottled), and some brotherly love.

If you are so inclined we will spend the night at the Bayou and treat ourselves to Mimo's the next day.

thoughts?

anyone have any thoughts on this passage from 1 Peter 3:... particularly the spirits in prison bit and the noah bit....

13Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? 14But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear[b]; do not be frightened."[c] 15But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. 17It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. 18For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, 19through whom[d] also he went and preached to the spirits in prison 20who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, 21and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge[e] of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22who has gone into heaven and is at God's right hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.

Ya'll know where to find me...

tonight 8:00

Love and a 40.

On my way back to the rental, I had been out to our new home and helped this nice guy named Jose install our kitchen countertops, I decided that both my truck and I needed something to drink. I put it in 6 gallons in the chevy and decided 40 oz. would do just fine for me. I carried Autumn in with me and we plopped down about a buck 50 for a Miller High Life The Champagne of Beers. With a dime from my change i bought a bite sized York Peppermint Patty...haven't had one of those for a long time. Autumn is sleeping while I am drinking and writing this post. Chrystel is off with my mom getting their hair cut at a place that recently opened in town that had a coupon in the local paper. I need to feed the dogs and the horse but for now drinking, sitting back and reflecting on the book* I just finished feels really good.

*The Moon is Down by J. Steinbeck...it was a propaganda book...widely read in occupied countries during WWII. Owning the book within Fascist Italy during the time meant execution. Woody Guthrie had his guitar...Steinbeck used his book to kill fascists.

MARK IT, BIATCH

In case you didn't know, Amanda and I have cell phones now. You might be wondering why we have L.A. area codes if we are moving to Idaho. I might tell you that it's a long story, and I don't want to talk about it. Like I don't want to talk about my spider bite.

Andrew = 310-654-3538
Amanda = 310-654-3539

Oh, and also, Amanda is now officially "Amanda Hamilton," meaning we are officially and undeniably married. I decided to make an honest woman out of her.

P.S. so what's the plan for tonight?

hokey pokey kiss my ass

for those of you who didn't happen to continue last night after the show...you missed a great time. we, being, me, xio, ryan, trevor, frank and annie....ventured to a little bar/ dance joint on melrose. it was a place that i kept saying i would love to have it as a house to live in. in retrospect, that makes no sense, but we just went with it. the crowd consisted of three very small groups of black people. frank and trevornever left the dance floor the whole time. th3e bartender...read a magazine the whole time we were there and seemed pissed off when he had to get a drink for one of us. my highlight of the night had to be when everyone was dancing sans Xio, and i decided that is was a good time to lead the group in a remix version of hokey pokey. we put our body parts in, and our body parts out, we did the hokey pokey, and we fucking turned it all about.
and my head is turning this morning.
fun show guys.
i like the viper room.
at the end of the night, i got on my soapbox and lectured xio about the evils of pirating movies and how though they may be cheaper, the bastards that are benfitting from them are swine.
life is grand.

A Nice Drive

So I get the day off today to do some recording and as I'm driving up La Cienega, I make an extremely quick right turn and promptly lock up my brakes to park. I then jump out of the car and run down the sidewalk in the opposite direction that I had been driving. I approach an individual and yell, "Jeff!" Mr. Tweedy slowly turns around and stares at me. "I saw you walking down the street and I just had to meet you." The kind but shocked friend of Bragg thanked and shaked me. I in turn thanked him for his music and proceeded to give some arbitrary star-struck banter. We shook hands again and parted ways. A lovely beginning to a day where you're required to live in dream mode.

hey

it was great to see everybody last weekend. it was a good weekend, and it was cool to be there for jesse. everybody seems to be doing well and it felt really nice to just spend time with you guys again. i can't say i was too excited about getting on that plane sunday night, but the flight was pretty good (the two glasses of wine and the tylenol pm didn't hurt). it's suddenly summer here and the humidity was like a wall when i walked off the plane monday morning. i'm sweating as i write this.

could you guys pray for my friend chris frank? i grew up with him in stanwood and he's actually miller's brother-in-law and i just heard they found testicular cancer and are operating today and then they'll probably need to do some kind of therapy after that. thanks.

well, it's really busy here, four sales in the next two weeks. take care

boring

man, has the blog been dead or what this week! i guess i'll just write something...andy, i hope your journey back with dana is a good one. xio and i, in trying to figure out where we are going to live, have decided for the time being come sept/ october to live in my apartment. unless in all of our spare time before then we find a great place...here's my logic, and tell me if you see it: we don't have to put down any deposits on a place, when it's only two people it is a huge apartment and for a pretty good price. the month of september will be spent pretty much gutting the place of everything that is in there, re painting, and hiring a cleaning crew to scrub it clean. thus creating a new clean feeling in the place and making it liveable once again. another benefit is that we don't have to have a lease and can move out anytime. thoughts? comments? advice?

Sub

I have been extremely interested in the idea of a screenplay entitled Sub. The main character would be a substitute teacher fresh from college. The word Sub would also entail what he feels like most of the time...sub-par, sub-human, etc. This would stem from how the full time teachers treat him in the lunch room, students in the classroom, administration in general. He is not a loser but how he is treated makes him feel sort of that way. There are some fun things along the the way such as his room mate and his unhealthy obsession with Desi Arnaz. (he poses as a female impersonator of the cuban crooner at a lesbian nightclub) and of course there is a love interest played by a teacher at the school he subs at the most. He of course triumphs and gets the girl, but not in a conventional sense and yada yada. I would base alot of this on the experiences I had while working as a sub. It could be for subs what Office Space was for the office peon. I write this here because I do not know where else to write it... thank you for your time.

The weekend...enjoy...(lucky bastards)

I have to admit I am jealous of all of you. From what I have gleaned from the porch and sporadic communication with members thereof you all will be blessed with a fantastic weekend. The last bachelor party I attended was Ben Wilson's. He was a Stewart guy that graduated from Biola in '99. He married Kim, a blonde gymnast from Hart. Anyway this is all beside the point. It was great seeing everyone again, having an entire kitchen full of beer and other interesting libations, playing poker, listening to music, cussing, swearing, comparing tats, smoking cigars, talking politics until 4 in the morning with Jon Anderson, giving and hearing advice about marriage, sex, life; laughing. The next morning waking up feeling crappy but feeling good about why you do feel crappy. I stopped at a gas station in long beach and ran into Greg Townsend and got his autograph for me and my dad. Greg played for the L.A. Raiders from 83-93, went to two pro-bowls (90, 91) was divorced, liked to say the F-word alot and was generally a nice guy. I was telling him that I was coming home from a bachelor party and he laughed. Joked that I had better not tell my wife everything, said it is best to lie to them sometimes. He was having his girlfriend's car fixed...a mid 90's nissan or something. As i drove away i thought to myself. I had witnessed the beginning of a marriage and the end of one. The wedding itself is not the beginning...marriage sinks in during that night of revelry with your friends. Seeing Greg at the filling station showed me what can happen with a marriage. I drove to my in laws that morning and followed Greg's advice...well not really...I told Chrystel everything and the only lie i told was how many beers i drank....i drank 12...i told her 15. She laughed. Marriage is great! Enjoy the bachelor party Jesse and enjoy your married life...it only gets better.

Tonight, Tomorrow, and the Weekend

My Dear Wormwoods,

I proclaim the following weekend to be most triumphant and excellent. I claim it to be bountiful and magnificent! I shall be attending the Dodger game for several innings, breaking my code of baseball honor and leaving upon hearing of Brent's arrival at the mythical Cat and Fiddle. Symbolism abounds as I sit in a dark classroom watching a video narrated by boyhood idol Lorren Greene about owls with thoughts of Guinness and baseball dancing in my head. Viva Le Concha!! Viva Le Alamo!!

Your Loving Stepfather,

Cannonball

A Slight Bend in the Plan

I just got a call from an anonymous friend, who informed me that I am the proud new owner of four tickets to the Dodger game tomorrow night. So, here's my plan. I am going to the Dodger game, then from there to the Cat & Fiddle to see if people are still be there. If no one is there, on to Alan's house. As we have a weekend of festivities ahead and the tickets were free, I assume that my initial presence will not be missed.

And, furthering my faux pas, anyone who would like to join me at the game and meet up with the crew later is most welcome. Three tickets stand ready; it would be a shame to see them go to waste. Call me if you want to go...
