happy easter

hello everybody,

saturday. i've popped into work to try and finish up the exhibition which starts today and then i'm gonna go buy a couple cd's or something. i've been working non-stop it's been probably one of the busiest weeks i've had here. just a nightmare. but kinda good to. whatever. no big plans this weekend. i may bake cookies. i mastered the pumpkin pie this fall but haven't quite got my meringue to set right on the lemon pie. but cookies never fail. last weekend i went with a bunch of people to this upscale cuban place after our sale. i ordered a ceviche and a pacifico. i'm thinking baja, wonderful little ceviche. i still don't know what i got, except it was delicious, very small and cost ten times as much, and somehow worth it. my great-grandmother, bernice boomer passed away this week after almost a week bought of pnemonia related stuff. 95 years old. a wonderful, caring old dear who lived to be a great-great grandmother and would putter around her retirement home saying, "i'm a great-great!"

my parents are coming out to visit next week which i'm quite looking forward to. it will be very good to see them and have them see where i live and work, etc.. something about having people you know experience first hand your life makes it a little more real.

well, all the best this easter weekend.

For the record...

I would just like to say how impressed I am with the quality of recent blogging I have seen on friends’ various private blog types. From Micah to Miller, each shows a remarkable sense of depth and consideration of life. Each deserves my applause. Applause!

I would also like to acknowledge my contribution to Friday night’s melee. If I punched anyone who did not want to be punched, I apologize. I have decided that punching people in the face while intoxicated is not a good way to spend the evening, despite how fun it might be for me (at the time).

If I punched anyone who did want to be punched, I do not apologize.

Also, my jaw hurt on Saturday morning. I don’t know played a part in that, but I would also like to offer my congratulations.

Happy Holy Week.

to my leetle friend

Long breath out...

I find myself tired. This is applicable on almost all levels. I decided to post this because I wanted to hear and feel the present of others to better understand the ebb and flow of my own life. Once again so immersed in self, I've lost the ability to see out. For my friends that I see as often as a bank account with extra money, I request your response especially. Thanks.

richmond

well, so far so good out here in richmond. being a director's assistant on set has turned out to be a tiring, but extremely fun adventure. i have donald sutherland emailing me daily and calling me, i really don't have to do any crazy work...i usually have a drink at night in the hotel bar with the line producer, the upm and the director of photography. i've probably learned more about filmaking in a week that i learned in the whole time at school, at least technically speaking. i havent really gotten to explore the wonderful town of richmond virginia yet, as i havent had a day off yet, but thats alright. i found a great irish pub down the road from the hotel as to which i can celebrate st patty's...on a side note, i have ended up getting two U2 tickets for april 5th, and also two for november 3rd...that was a huge wieght off the shoulders. so--i got to check out black hawk helicopters today at an army base for a location scout...while it was snowing nonetheless...all in all its been a good time so far. and if you haven't posted your address yet, that would be much helpful if you could do it. peace
alan

Keith proposed an assignment to me last night

Keith proposed an assignment for those not so weak of heart members of the porch. It is to be a mix cd assignment filled with, say, the most important music of your young life. For example, the revisionist in me may want to say that I was very cool in junior high- listening to Robert Johnson and the Rolling Stones. The reality, is that I was listening to Ray Stevens sing "The Streak." Thus, the disk can be no less than 15 songs, and no more than 20. If you do it, post the findings here on the porch for our enjoyment. Maybe we could even have a listening party of sorts that becomes a real party of sorts or something. Anyhow, unless Keith has any corrections to this proposal, I say have at it.

My first song would probably be the Christian children's classic "bullfrogs and butterflies" by the former singer of the song "Eve of Destruction."

Our boy is all growns up

Do your selves all a favor and read the new post on the gloyd blog (50 cent). The man has moved beyond the purely zany and is finally writing something worthy of his talent and experience. I am in awe.

(sidenote: if you disagree with me, if you like the antics, the "trace chutkins" and various forest dwelling rodent antics better, if you like the "old" jesse, the drunken stepfather, the as-yet-(to my knowledge)-unfinished-Gold Rush-script jesse, you are wrong. this jesse is better. and will, hopefully, continue to get even better than better.)

A clarification...

Just to clarify, Thursday, we will be going out somewhere to celebrate St. Patrick's. Friday, we will be eating. Friday will take place at Darren's apartment. Please drop a comment if you have any questions...

Subbing

This has been the best subbing day ever. I was able to rest my head on the desk for the first two hours while the kids took a standardized test. These are fourth and fifth graders, mind you, and the teacher has taught them what they should be doing in nearly every situation. Not only that, when they don't know what they are supposed to be doing they independently find productive activities. One of them is doing my taxes right now. Oh, time to take them out to play soccer. I'm going to school all of their asses.

On to less important things...
-Has anyone seen this torn video? Just type torn video into google. Maybe add mime to your search if you can't seem to find it. It's amazing. I'd post a link, but I don't know how to.
-Lastly, does anyone want to go surfing next week? I'm serious. Burrito serious. Let me know. I am very down.
-Post lastly, Sam Staley is having his 30th Birthday party this Saturday. It's a heavy metal one and you are supposed to dress the part. Everyone is welcome, for the most part. Call me to ask if you're welcome or not.

A Post

I am at East Whittier teaching. Matt B. is teaching in the room next to me. I figure we'll go get some El Pollo Loco or something. Possibly a BRC burrito. This is a noisy class and I wish the day to be over. I can't complain... maybe I can a little, actually.

Here's to: spring training, milky way and airheads in my classroom.

Note to all who want to come:

I will be hanging with Darren and Miller in LA on St. Patty's, all are welcome to join, but we will be having a group party featuring, mr. potato (boiled), cabbage (boiled), corned beef (crockpotted), white bread and butter, and Guinness a plenty (Alec)... this will commence on Friday.

The Saturday after Easter, I believe it's the second of april, I will be booking a campsite or two somewhere not too far away. drop a line here if interested so i can know whether or not to get 2 sites or 1.

word. brent- i emailed mike askay your digits for the bparty info stuff.

from juiceboxes to a thermos filled with bitter coffee

Hello All, I write to you today from the confines of Pioneer High School. I won't bore you with subbing stories, because frankly there are far too many of them...my favorite part is that I can nap in class when the mood strikes me. Anyway, this job is a huge answer to prayer and that means starbucks is on the outs...so come visit me at that filthy establishment next time i'm working there(within the next two weeks) and I will be sure to fix you up with a handsome bounty of beverages and treats. Fat treats. Treats that make chubby children jump for joy.

And, for those of you who don't already know- Dana and I are engaged! In the words of phish..."I'm dancing like a newborn elf" I'm so excited and wish i could buy you all drinks to celebrate.

Well, that's it for now. It's a beautiful day and I can nearly smell the grass at dodger stadium.

E-mail addresses

I would like to start sending all of you cute little stories of puppies and of sick little boys in comas in dire need of your e-mail support. But first I would need your e mail addresses. Please respond to this with your E-dress. Of course, I'm not serious. I promise, no forwards. But I do want your emails for my records. Now that I have a computer at home, I will no longer be communicating via telephone, cellular phone, or mouth. All communication must now be in the form of E-communication. Your emails will be appreciated. E-thank you

prayer request II: the sesquel

praying hands

amanda had an interview with the Capital Group on thursday and it went well. they called her back yesterday {friday} to schedule a third interview with her for this next week. Amanda asked if it could be on monday, and the woman she spoke to on the phone said that it would probably have to be tuesday or wednesday because she would have to set it up with the Hiring Group. This sounds like good news to me! So please be praying that amanda could get this job. i think it would be something that she would really enjoy, and would be much more rewarding compared to her current coffee shop position. those of you who were out of school for a long time before you finally found a position know how nerve wracking it can be to be continually searching for some place to use your education that doesn't pay minimum wage. amanda and i really appreciate your prayers. i will update when i know the outcome.

I wish I had a Pony

...and a boat. then I could float away with my bride to a dessert island and eat it, and I wouldn't have to work or worry or wish any more. I'm moving programs again. this is my 3rd move in this company. I'm done. I don't like it here. so why do I stay. Because I need medical insurance. Because I got to pay off medical bills. Medical shmedical. I wish it was Y2K(minus the Becky factor). That was a good year. Here's to 2triple0. I have a CT scan tomorrow. Think of me as you greet the day, or tonight. We just have to make sure we're still all good. Truth be told... I'm not happy these days, except everyday at 6:30 pm when I walk through the door, and Karen jumps up with a smile to give me a hug. I like that. I think from now on my day start at 6:30pm. Everything prior can just be disregarded. short and sweet. Here's to the new me. Life is short and so am I. Amen. Abracadabra. Booyah. mmmbop. Funkedelic Beboptics. dig it?

Absynthe and Apocrypha

For all those interested. Darren has kindly opened up his brand new home to us for Bible Study tonight. He is excited for us to dig on his new digs and drink all his new drinks. Who's in?

prayer request

pray

i was hoping that those of you who read this would throw up a couple of prayers this week for my wife amanda. she has a second interview with the capital group regarding a position that she applied for. she got a call back today, five business days since her first interview. she is going in for the second interview on thursday. her getting a call today means that she was one of the people that they liked the most of the people that they interviewed. instead of going in just for a test, which is their normal way of doing things, she is taking the test, and having a second interview all at the same time. this is a pretty big deal, and shows that they really want to hire her (hopefully!)

all of you know what a blessing this would be for us as i am back in school full time and hardly making any money at all at the coffee shop. please pray that she would get this job. it would be so wonderful for us. amanda would feel a lot better having a 'real' job rather than working at a coffee shop after getting her degree, and she would be maaking WAY more money, which would help out more than anything at this point. anyway, thanks so much for the prayers in advance. pray hard, pray often. i'll let you know when we hear anything.

New Friend

I think I found another new porch friend!

congrats to mr. smith.

andy is happily engaged. here's to him and her and cheers.

Poke me

hey all you bickering idiots. If you didn't notice, I gave up on our little game of poker due to the indecision of it all. Instead I had a grand ole time with m'lady. So did the game ever happen. I assumed not. Here's my thought, we are too nice to one another, too acomadating. Alan should have demanded our presence in the Los A, since he proposed the idea, and us being good freinds would accomadate his invitation. Alan proposed the idea on Tues, by Friday nothing was decided, this including a gathering of a majority on Wed.(a rare occasion). democracy sucks. the end.

this is my phone number

in other news, i saw the kings of leon the other night and it was incredible. i've also been listening to arcade fire, which has moments of transcendency built into it. the features are another great band that abby has shown me. has anyone ever heard the zutons. apparently they are very good. i have been listening to ray lamontange quite a bit as well. "trouble" was produced by ethan johns and has a heartbreaker/crazy love feel. i have been lent a copy of "smile" and am about to listen to it. this guy i work with has sweared by it and i'm a little nervous, but will give it a go later today. i'm afraid of hippies and aged people claiming the current brilliance of brian wilson (who has shown only comic and business genius of late in my opinion). i do own and wear a couple wool sweaters now, but only because it's so damn cold here.

it keeps snowing here every week or so, which is a strange and wonderful occurence. i keep forgetting i'm on the other side of the country.

i have overcome my infatuation with nyc. though it remains the greatest city in the world, i could give a fuck. monday as i was leaving on a train bound for my adopted home of philadelphia, heading into a snowstorm, saying goodbye to a loud, bothersome, heartbreaking city, i couldn't have been happier.

i just read "still life with woodpecker" by tom robbins. a very interesting and amusing book. i'm reading "autograph man" by zadie smith now. this is a complicated and wonderful novel so far. for me a proper step from "white teeth"

everybody should right a little about what they're up to and how they're doing on this thing. all i know about anybody whether or not they're going to some event i can't attend and how much time they spend on the internet based on the strange things advertised here.

be cool -b

A Request.

To all poker players.

Here's the deal, Mr. Belt, I really thank you for your offer and I haven't been looking at the blog for a couple weeks really, so I didn't know of this fun discussion until sometime yesterday, but seeing how the evening was proposed by Alan and is for Alan (and Dan, but Dan isn't leaving for a couple weeks) I think we ought to have it here in Whittier (or at Goss' place) seeing as he does have to drive from Burbank to LBC after working a twelve hour day or so. It may be too late, but why even have a poker night if Alan isn't either able to enjoy it or be there? Please consider it.

Jesse

Dear Matt (Bethancourt)

Dear Matt (Bethancourt),

Dear Matt (Bethancourt), you sure are a swell fella. You pull some real sweet deals for all of us here "down below." You deserve the moon!

Matt (Bethancourt), you had a birthday, and I clean plumb forgot it. I sure am sorry. I know birthdays are special days, days for laughter and lollypops and gin! Next year I will be less selfish and remember your special day.

I have a red plate that reads "You Are Special Today!" all around the edge. I will make chocolate chip pancakes and serve them to you piping hot on the red plate. Do you like butter?

Dear Matt (Bethancourt), thanks for max fun!

Sincerely,

Andrew

For Shame

Jefferson Starbucks?

Now, not that Starship is a favorite band of mine, but still: Andy and OB, how do you sleep at night?

We built this Starbucks on heart and soul? More like, we built this Starbucks a block from the last one.

The Tournament of Tantilizing Treasures

In response to my conversation with individuals last night, I am making a call. The poker night will be at my house Friday night. If you would like to join me there then you're invited. If not, kiss my ass, I'll drink alone. The game will officially start at 8:00 pm. The buy in will be determined there but I'm feeling $10. Bring whatever you like in addition to alcohol. Please rsvp to this post so I know who's gonna be there.

-Jayson

p.s. There's a possibility of two tables if we get an erroneous amount of individuals. Furthermore, this invitation is extended to all that read it. I will go as far as singling out people who may not feel a part of said invitees. Ryan, Frank, Andy, Fred Willard... the list goes on. How do feel about the ladies coming?

Hmm...

I'm not sure, but I think whoever is responsible for this is going to hell.

Poker??

Who's up for getting a poker game going on Friday night?...I am leaving out of town for a month next Tuesday, and i think dan is leaving soon too...so who's in (obviously we would need billy because he is the master of the chips, but also because he is just a good guy) Whats the feel out there.... yeah or nay?

Sexy Men of March

On this the first of the month I'd like to take a moment to recognize the proud, the few, the sexy, The Men of March. Harry Belafonte, Roger Daltry, Alexander Graham Bell, Antonio Vivaldi, Michelangelo, Alan Greenspan, Freddie Prinze, Jr., Neil Sedaka, Kurt Russell, Rob Lowe, Ewan McGregor, Al Gore , Ulysses S. Grant, Chico Marx, William Shatner, Harry Houdini, Steve McQueen, Tennessee Williams, Leonard Nimoy, James Caan, James Taylor, Spike Lee, and list goes on. But there is one man that I'm sure sticks out to us all as the most sexy, most influencial man of March...and of course I'm talking about none other then Mr. Rock Star, the definition of cool. So I say in honor of these great men of march and anyone else we might know, Lets celebrate.
